Our commitment to build a responsible and sustainable business began 60 years ago.

Sustainability for the Group means taking care of our People, Planet, and Partners. It also means engaging our employees through Chalhoub IMPACT initiatives to give back to the communities we live in. 

Our membership to the United Nations Global Compact in 2014 strengthened this commitment by reporting yearly on the 10 principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anticorruption.

We went further in September 2017 and signed the Women Empowerment Principles (WEP), which is an initiative co-led by the United Nation Global Compact and United Nation Women. By being a signatory of Women Empowerment Principles, the Group recognizes that gender parity is imperative for economic growth. It means that we will now be reporting publicly on Diversity and Inclusion key performance Indicators, within our sustainability report.

We strive to establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality, we make sure that everybody, in the company is treated fairly. We respect and support human rights and non-discrimination. We ensure the health, safety and well-being of all team members. We promote education, training and professional development for all employees. We have pledged to engage, both, men and women, at all levels and to set an example for others in the region to cultivate a gender balanced work environment. We will leverage this commitment to further strengthen our policies, procedures and initiatives to enhance diversity and inclusion in our workplace, marketplace and in our community.
