Whereisthis Rewarded with Two Wins and a High Commendation at the Marketing Society GCC Awards

At this year’s prestigious Marketing Society GCC Awards, Whereisthis, a creative agency founded and based in the UAE, was awarded in two categories and received a high commendation, standing out amongst some of the region’s most influential brands including Saudi Tourism, Red Sea Global, and Majid Al Futtaim.
This recognition marks a milestone for a young agency that has built its reputation on a commitment to storytelling that resonates, partnerships that deliver, and content that moves people.
The campaign in partnership with Madagascar Tourism, titled Madagascar Uncharted | Beyond the Baobabs, was shortlisted in three categories and emerged victorious in two: Successful and Effective Partnerships and Best Use of Media. It also received a High Commendation in Brand communication
The judges praised the campaign for its courage, clarity of narrative, and real-world impact, delivered with a small team and limited resources. They described it as a campaign that “used clever techniques some companies would be afraid of,” adding that the agency “took a huge risk, there was no script, no polish, no sanitation.” By placing the storytelling in the hands of real people on the ground, Whereisthis created a campaign that was human, relevant, and impossible to ignore.
The second win, for Best Use of Media, recognized a strategy that was built entirely for social, maximizing organic engagement and reach through content-first thinking. Despite a minimal media spend of just 4,000 USD, the campaign generated more than 16 million views, 140,000 interactions, and a 440% increase in followers for Madagascar Tourism’s account, achieving results that far exceeded expectations.

The award-winning campaign followed a 17-day road trip across southern Madagascar, where hand-picked creators from the Whereisthis Community captured unfiltered moments, interactions, and landscapes. The result was an episodic journey told from the ground, designed to spark real-world travel inspiration and build lasting visibility for one of the world’s least known and underrepresented destinations.
The campaign was executed with a small team, without a production crew or cast, and allowed time for full immersion. Whereisthis was able to deliver not only results but a deeper connection between audience and destination.
