Mr. Ludovic Pouille has been Director of Economic Diplomacy at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) since September 2024.
In 1997, he passed the competitive examination for the recruitment of Secretaries of Foreign Affairs and joined the North Africa and Middle East Directorate at the Ministry, where he served as desk officer for Iraq/Kuwait and later for Syria/Lebanon. He was then appointed Deputy Consul of France in Jerusalem, responsible for monitoring Palestinian domestic and foreign policy, as well as overseeing communications and press relations (2001–2004).
In 2004, Mr. Pouille became North Africa and Middle East Advisor at the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations in New York. He was later appointed Deputy Director for Egypt-Levant at the MEAE (2007–2010), and then Minister Counselor at the French Embassy in Rabat, Morocco (2010–2014).
Between 2014 and 2017, as Deputy Director for North Africa and the Middle East at the MEAE, he oversaw human resources matters, followed up on economic diplomacy files, and coordinated the anti-Daesh Task Force. In this capacity, Mr. Pouille was also appointed to the Board of Directors of the French Development Agency (AFD).
In 2017, Mr. Ludovic Pouille was appointed Ambassador of France to the United Arab Emirates, and later served as Ambassador of France to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2020–2024).
