World Food Program Visit with CCI France UAE

Members had the privilege of visiting the World Food Program operations hub hosted within Dubai Humanitarian.

Members of CCI France UAE had the privilege of visiting the World Food Programme (WFP) Dubai Operations, hosted within Dubai Humanitarian.

What we witnessed was both inspiring and humbling.

As the world's largest humanitarian organization, WFP operates on the front lines of crises, delivering life-saving assistance to communities affected by conflict, natural disasters, climate change, and displacement. From its strategic hub in Dubai, WFP coordinates rapid humanitarian responses across the globe.

Our visit provided a unique behind-the-scenes look at:

  • The United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Dubai—one of five WFP‑operated hubs globally—serves as a critical platform for the humanitarian community, storing and dispatching life‑saving supplies worldwide. As the largest hub in the network, UNHRD Dubai supports two‑thirds of global operations across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, acting as a first line of defense for the region and enabling rapid delivery of essential items such as shelter, food and medical supplies to people affected by crises.
  • The Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit, where highly skilled volunteer IT and telecommunications experts stand ready to deploy anywhere in the world. These extraordinary professionals often put themselves in harm's way to restore critical communications following earthquakes, hurricanes, conflicts, and other emergencies—enabling humanitarian teams to save lives when every minute counts.
  • WFP's Global Fleet Centre, where we discovered the specialized vehicles used in some of the world's most challenging environments, including rough-terrain, amphibious, and armored vehicles.
  • A thought-provoking panel discussion featuring senior leaders from WFP alongside representatives from DP World, and Chalhoub Group, highlighting the growing importance of private-sector engagement in humanitarian action.

One message resonated throughout the day: humanitarian challenges cannot be solved by governments and NGOs alone.

Today, more than 318 million people across 74 countries face acute food insecurity. Even more heartbreaking, 40 percent are children. Behind these statistics are families displaced by war, communities devastated by climate events, and individuals struggling to survive.

WFP continues to face significant funding gaps and is actively seeking partnerships with the private sector—not only through financial support, but also through expertise, innovation, research, technology, logistics, and design capabilities.

The private sector has a crucial role to play.

Whether you are a company looking to contribute your expertise or an individual wanting to make a difference, every action counts.

One simple way to help: download the ShareTheMeal app and contribute directly to feeding vulnerable communities around the world.

A sincere thank you to the WFP team for this eye-opening experience and for the incredible work carried out every day, often under the most challenging circumstances.

Together, we can help turn solidarity into action.
