Over 25 years, Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Javaid, (SI) has worn many hats — policymaker, academic, strategist — but his mission has remained the same: transforming ideas into policies that drive national progress. Recognized with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2023 for public service as a technocrat, he has shaped Pakistan’s economic agenda at the highest level.
Now, as Vice Chancellor of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics and Member of the Planning Commission, he is leading institutional transformation, strengthening research–policy linkages, and reshaping graduate programs in economics, development, and public policy.
His thought leadership focuses on innovation-driven, export-led growth, institutional reform, and leveraging technology for economic transformation.
Formerly Chief Economist of Pakistan, he managed a Rs. 8.5 trillion portfolio and authored transformative national frameworks including Pakistan Vision 2025, the $60 billion CPEC Long-Term Plan, Post Floods Damage Need Assessment 2022 and 4RF Strategy. An educator at LUMS, KSBL, and SKEMA Business School (France), he has mentored future leaders while engaging with global forums and multilateral partners.
