Dubai, UAE: Egis, a global leader in architecture, consulting, construction engineering, and mobility services, is proud to announce its integral role in the AED 10 billion expansion of the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City Dubai. As the lead engineering consultant for this ambitious project, Egis will leverage its extensive expertise in delivering world-class infrastructure to help create the largest purpose-built exhibition venue of its kind in the region.

Upon completion, the expanded DEC will cover 1.2 kilometers and include 180,000 square meters of exhibition space, designed to host global events and drive the future of business tourism in Dubai.

As the Lead Engineering Consultant, Egis is responsible for a wide range of services, including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design. The scope of work also encompasses value engineering, sustainability, statutory compliance, and the integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to ensure precision throughout the project. With its commitment to futuristic and innovative design, Egis is playing a pivotal role in supporting Dubai’s transformation into a future-ready destination for international events, aligning with the region’s long-term economic vision.

Amer Al Farsi, Assistant Vice President of Real Estate Development at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), said:
"Aligned with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, and building on DWTC’s existing regional leadership and world-class event hosting facilities, the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) expansion will drive the next stage of MICE sector evolution. The DEC masterplan will expand the venue in three strategic phases, bringing the total indoor exhibition space to 180,000 sqm, featuring 26 halls on a single, contiguous level spanning 1.2 km. This allows the DEC to host one mega event or multiple events simultaneously. Upon completion, the DEC will be the largest purpose-built indoor event and exhibition venue in the region, solidifying Dubai’s position as one of the top three global destinations for tourism and business, and reinforcing the city’s role as a model of innovation and opportunity on the world stage. We are excited about our collaboration with Egis and look forward to leveraging their expertise as we realize our vision for the DEC."

Gurminder Sagoo, Country Managing Director of UAE at Egis, remarked:
"The Dubai Exhibition Centre is set to redefine the event experience in the region. Under the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are honored to play a pivotal role in its expansion. Working in collaboration with our client, Dubai World Trade Centre, and their appointed contractor, we remain focused on delivering a fast-tracked, sustainable design solution that is future-ready. The DEC expansion reflects Dubai’s commitment to being an innovative hub for economic growth, shaping the future of global business networking while setting new standards for event infrastructure across the Middle East."

As a key contributor to the DEC expansion, Egis is committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence. This includes delivering a ‘Sustainable Materials Strategy’ to ensure compliance with green building standards and meet LEED certification requirements. The project will feature cutting-edge sustainable infrastructure, including renewable energy systems, environmentally responsible materials, and waste management strategies, in line with global best practices
