Supporting WFP's Emergency Response Efforts
WFP calls for urgent support as global hunger rises, helping millions affected by conflict and climate shocks.
As humanitarian crises continue to intensify around the world, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has launched renewed appeals for emergency funding to sustain life-saving operations and support millions of vulnerable people affected by conflict, climate shocks, and economic instability.
According to WFP’s latest 2026 Global Outlook, an estimated 266 million people across food-crisis countries are facing acute hunger, while humanitarian needs continue to outpace available funding. Despite reaching more than 45 million people during the first half of 2026, WFP warns that sustained donor support is critical to prevent conditions from deteriorating further.
The organization aims to assist up to 110 million people in 2026 and requires approximately USD 13 billion to fund emergency response, resilience-building and long-term food security solutions. WFP emphasizes that every contribution helps deliver immediate assistance while also investing in innovative approaches that strengthen communities’ resilience to future shocks.
